Everything you need for responsible financial management is included in Squirrel: budgets, reports, registers and even scheduled, repeating transactions.

Analyze your spending with powerful reporting tools. Where is your money going? See the breakdown of your spending, analyze trends and get the information you need by filtering transactions by category, tag, etc.

Keep your spending on track with budgets. Set limits on each budget category to control your spending. Squirrel shows your progress for the current period and the remaining amount so you can meet your financial goals.

Manage your accounts in foreign currencies. Squirrel automatically calculates how much each transaction is worth in your base currency.

Easily import transactions, and automatically categorize them with import rules. Squirrel can import your data so you can get started right away with an easier system.

Just bought it - will see if this is a viable Mint.com replacement... could be a very good experience (we'll see!)

I've tried basically every finance app. Squirrel doesn't import your transactions from any banks, but most of the apps I've tried, if they did, ended up costing bank fees or were awkward to use, so that's not a big deal to me.

As far as interface, this definitely one of the best out there. It's probably the easiest to use of any of the finance apps out there.

Ah, there's also an iPhone app for it here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/squirrel-2/id380269207?mt=8

But keep in mind that after doing some digging, I found that even though the Mac app and iPhone apps used to sync, they don't do so currently (permanently disabling wifi syncing is explained here: http://www.squirrelapp.com/blog/2012/04/04/icloud-sync-udpate/)

However, iCloud syncing appears to be on the way any time now and sounds like it's going to come up the next update and the developer instructed users to keep an eye on his twitter account for the latest news: @squirrelapp
